A philological study on poisoning of Torreyae Semen(榧子)

Abstract

|
Torreyae Semen is in use in Korean medicine. Korean medical doctors use Torreyae Semen for loosing the bowel to relieve constipation(潤腸通便), expelling parasites in the intestines(殺蟲), etc. We investigated toxicity, poisoning symptoms, poisoning treatment and prevention against poisoning of Torreyae Semen. The results were summarized as follows: 1. The ingredients of poisoning from Torreyae Semen mainly cause stimulating symptoms on nervous system, digestive system, circulatory system, respiratory system, etc. 2. The representative methods of poisoning treatment in western medicine are promotion of vomiting, washing out the stomach, causing diarrhea, supplies of grape sugar and symptomatic treatment, etc. 3. In order to prevent against poisoning of Torreyae Semen, the patients should keep usage, dosage and notes.
